Heat Fluid Pump Status

Postby Beardymarrow » Mon May 05, 2014 14:43

Hi,
I have an IVT Greenline HT+ E9.

Statlink thinks that my internal Heat Fluid Pump is constantly on (except when the Summer Disconnection Mode is activated). I think this is incorrect. I know that the external radiator pump is always on (except during Summer Disconnection), pumping water around the radiators, past the GT1 sensor, and along the bypass pipe. I am sure that the Heat Fluid Pump, however, is only on when the heat pump is on. Am I correct?

Thanks

Beardy

I think StatLink shows the correct information.
You can change settings in the heatpump controller if the Heat fluid pump should run constantly or not, please verify those settings.

Thanks Peter,
You are 100% correct. My sincere apologies for my doubts :-)

Can you think of any problem with only running the P2 Heat Fluid Pump when the compressor is on? I have a bypass on the radiator circuit, and the GT1 sensor is correctly positioned on the radiator side of the bypass. I don't understand why IVT would set the heatpump default to run P2 all the time, as it is inefficient, unless they assume that some installations don't have a bypass?

Cheers

Hi.

I have no good recomendation to give you about the P2 pump.
If you view other Husdata users (http://www.husdata.se/userlist.asp) you will see both types of settings.
I think that the setting where P2 is constantly running is the default one and very few are changing that.

One thing that happens when you stop the pump in sync with the compressor is that you may get wrong return temperature caused by stopped flow.
That could lead to more frequent (unnecessary) starts and stops. I think you have to evaluate both settings yourself and find out what seems to work best.

Thanks Peter,

I'll try both settings and with the aid of Statlink decide which is best. I hope I won't get wrong return temperatures as my Rad return temp sensor is before the bypass pipe, so should still measure accurately. I would lose the little burst of heat that the radiators get when the heat pump switches back off hot water to standby though, which may outweigh the electricity saving in not running it all the time.

Thanks for your help.
